The latest Endoscopic procedures for Kidney stone Disease are being performed by Dr Sarang Kanekar at Vision Multispeciality Hospital Mapusa Goa.
One patient presented with 2 large stones in the urinary bladder measuring a total of 8 cms. Percutaneous Cysto Lithotripsy was carried out using state of the art instruments with a 1 cm skin incision. The patient had a quick, uncomplicated recovery and was discharged in 3 days. The open Surgery usually conducted for this condition requires a hospital stay of 5-7 days with complete recovery taking 4-6 weeks.
In the second instance, Supine PCNL was performed to clear a stone measuring 3 cm present in the kidney. This was done using a 4 mm endoscope and 5 mm skin incision. This patient too had a quick recovery with no need for blood transfusion. The availability of these procedures makes treatment for Kidney Stones pain-free with a speedy recovery. The chances of infection and bleeding are also minimal.
The operative team consisted of Dr Sarang Kanekar Consultant Urologist and Uro Oncologist, Dr Bhagyashree Shetye Consultant Anaesthesiologist, Sister Shaini and Brother Makhtum, Anaesthesia technician Krutika and Apurva.
